Sustainable footwear brand Allbirds has collaborated with British fashion brand Shrimps. The result is a three-piece monochromatic capsule that “celebrates urban exploration and a curious mindset, blending functionality with a fun aesthetic”.
The key piece within the “whimsical winter capsule” is the Trail Runner Fluff, a reimagined version of Allbirds’ “fan-favourite hiking shoe, that’s perfect for going around town”.
Taking elements from both brands’ DNA, the result is a versatile trainer “that is equal parts minimal and maximal”.
Standout features include Allbirds’ signature fluffy and sustainable Merino wool (“its unmatched softness and warmth is ideal for the winter season”, we’re told), accentuated by Shrimps’s faux pearl beads.
Shrimps founder, Hannah Weiland, said in her first association with a footwear brand, she was drawn to the Trail Runner SWT’s “chunky silhouette and the opportunity to layer it with Shrimps’s design codes”.
She added: “We wanted to bring a signature Shrimps touch to the classic Trail Runner, incorporating our faux pearls, playful textures, and monochromatic tones, all while embracing Allbirds’s sustainably-engineered design. Comfort was key, and together, we’ve created a stylish yet durable pair of trainers, ready for exploring.”
The capsule also includes two of Shrimps’ bestsellers, the classic Balthasar Coat and the Mini Antonia Bag to complement the shoe. Crafted in a jet black bouclé and adorned with faux pearls, the Balthasar Coat features Shrimps’ exaggerated faux fur collar and cuffs. The Mini Antonia Bag, with its black geometric beads in grid set clusters is made by hand by artisans in India.
The Trail Runner Fluff (£145) is available exclusively in the UK across women’s sizes on allbirds.co.uk and at its concession at Selfridges. The Balthasar Coat (£695) and Mini Antonia Bag (£425) will be available at shrimps.com.
