The name’s Brown. Orlebar Brown. In a further tribute to its longstanding collaboration with the James Bond 007 franchise, the British resortwear and lifestyle brand which specialises in tailored swim shorts has launched another related capsule collection.
This one marks the ‘Golden Year’, celebrating 50 years of The Man with The Golden Gun and 60 years of Goldfinger movies.
The capsule features gold plated hardware – Orlebar Brown x 007 embossed side adjusters on swim shorts and trousers, and a gold-plated buckle on the towelling onesies, reminiscent on one worn by Sean Connery.
The capsule borrows from Bond looks in both movies and includes zebra printed swim shorts and shirt from Scaramanga’s beach scene; Scaramanga’s sweat suit; a Glencheck pattern borrowed from Bond’s suit made into a swim short; a knitted polo inspired by Bond’s knitted tie; gold swim shorts and shirts; and finally, a black bonded swim short with a laser cut 007 logo on the reverse, referencing the classic laser scene in Goldfinger.
The Chanel-owned brand, which has a strong celebrity following, takes its promotion-building collaborations seriously. This summer it signed a multi-year collaboration with premium car maker Automobili Lamborghini, with the first capsule collection featuring swim shorts, resort shirts, trousers, polos, and T-shirts, as well as a beach towel.
Orlebar Brown operates more than 40 direct stores, and can be found in over 250 locations around the world.
