The Met Office has issued several yellow weather warnings as temperatures are expected to drop in the next few days.
The national weather service has issued a yellow alert for ice in Scotland from 9pm tonight to 10am tomorrow, warning of potential disruption and the risk of crashes.
Strong winds are forecast to worsen the disruption on Wednesday in the north of Scotland. A wind warning will be in place between 4 p.m. on Wednesday and 9 a.m. on Thursday.
The Met Office stated: “A band of rain and snow will move east across Scotland this afternoon and evening (which could lead to some lying snow on higher transport routes).
“Once this clears temperatures will quickly fall during Tuesday evening and ice is likely to form readily on untreated surface during the evening and overnight into Wednesday morning.”
Currently, three yellow warnings are in place for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Chris Bulmer, said: “At this time is looks like the unsettled conditions will continue into the weekend with a deep low-pressure system probably crossing the UK into Saturday bringing strong winds and rain to some areas.
“Weather warnings will be issued as the details of the developments and hazards become clearer.
“Given the potential for disruption from this system, it is important to keep up to date with the latest forecast.”
