Christmas is quickly approaching and many people will likely already be planning the big food shop.
If Aldi is your go-to supermarket during the festive season, you’ll want to keep hold of your receipt – as it could win you back your money.
From Sunday, December 1 the German retailer is offering UK shoppers the chance to be paid back the cost of their Christmas shopping, as part of its Big Advent Giveaway.
Customers simply have to submit a copy of their receipt and each day from December 1 until Christmas Eve, Aldi will be selecting someone at random to receive a full refund on their festive groceries.
Shoppers who want to take part in the Big Advent Giveaway should send a picture of their receipt to aldicompetitions@citypress.co.uk and Aldi will reimburse the value of the winners’ shop in Aldi shopping vouchers up to the value of £100.
Richard Thornton, communications director at Aldi, said: ‘Our Big Advent Giveaway is our way of saying thank you to our loyal customers by helping to make the festive season even more special.
‘At Aldi, we are committed to offering the best value and quality, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a magical Christmas without breaking the bank.’
This comes after Aldi was recently named Christmas Retailer of the Year by the Quality Food Awards, as well as Best Overall Grocer at the prestigious Good Housekeeping Institute Christmas Taste Test 2024.
The annual Good Housekeeping taste test, which tests 730 products from more than 97 brands, also crowned Aldi’s mince pies, turkey and champagne as best-in-class in their categories.
Aldi has also been named cheapest supermarket by consumer champion Which? every month this year.
However, the supermarket has also made a rather controversial move ahead of Christmas, with the recent release of a Brussels Sprout Kimchi Hot Sauce.
The ‘one-of-a-kind’ ‘condiment by Sauce Shop hit Aldi’s shelves on November 28, priced at £3.49 and is likely to divide shoppers as it’s made using Brussels sprouts, kimchi, green jalapenos and festive spices, ‘for a tangy, fiery kick that promises to take festive meals to new heights’.
Husband and wife, and founders of Sauce Shop, James and Pam Digva, said they dreamt up the creation after experimenting with fermenting Brussels sprouts at home.
Pam said: ‘We’ve taken our passion for fermentation and applied it to something unexpected – Brussels sprouts.
‘Our limited-edition hot sauce, made exclusively for Aldi, showcases the versatility of this superfood veggie. Drizzle it over your Christmas dinner, spice up your Boxing Day sandwich or even add a kick to a turkey noodle stir-fry. The possibilities are endless.’
