French fashion entrepreneur Thierry Gillier is showcasing at the same prestigious Parisian address the best of his two labels: Zadig & Voltaire, which he founded in 1997, and where he again took charge of the design studio in January, and Parisian luxury cashmere brand Pellat-Finet, which he acquired in 2019. Pellat-Finet was initially relaunched via its e-shop, and in April 2023 it opened a store at 326 rue Saint Honoré, in the heart of the French capital. The address has now morphed into a “new concept store,” featuring also a selection of items from the Zadig & Voltaire collections.
The new store brings together “a carefully curated selection of each label’s most iconic items within a single joint space,” said Zadig & Voltaire in a press release, underlining how “the two labels share common values and inspirations, and combine heritage and creativity in this new adventure, a collaboration that will immediately resonate.”
A press release also stated that “each label has brought its own identity to the new space: Pellat-Finet’s limited-edition output is destined to connoisseurs who appreciate a balance between sophisticated craftsmanship and sportswear comfort, while Zadig & Voltaire advocates an approach based on authenticity.” The goal seems to be to test a new concept store model, capitalising on each label’s customer base and appeal. The same integration between the two labels will be trialled also at Zadig & Voltaire’s Parisian stores on rue Cambon and on the Champs-Elysées.
The 150-square-metre rue Saint-Honoré store, characterised by minimalist interiors, showcases Pellat-Finet’s high-end, London-made cashmere essentials, priced between €1,500 and €1,600, with hoodies retailing at €590, alongside Zadig & Voltaire’s knitwear, priced from €450-500, and an extensive choice of its leather goods. These range from smaller accessories, priced from €200, to handbags, which account for nearly half of Zadig & Voltaire’s revenue, starting at €300, and a selection of footwear, suits and other outfits.
The idea behind the store is to blend the rock ‘n’ roll, directional style of ready-to-wear label Zadig & Voltaire, distributed via 400 monobrand stores worldwide, 14 of them in Paris, with the slightly subversive spirit of the brand founded by Lucien Pellat-Finet in 1994, recognisable for iconic motifs like the skull and marijuana leaf. An in-house design team has been taking care of style at Pellat-Finet, after French designer Dryce Lahssan, who was named creative director in 2023, left the brand.
