A travel influencer has revealed a little-known trick that could potentially land you the best seat on your flight.

Securing the most comfortable plane seat can significantly enhance your flying experience, particularly on long-haul journeys.

However, airlines often charge extra for seat reservations. And these extra charges can be rather expensive. But there may be a way around them.

Sheridan, who shares her travel adventures with her husband Greg on TikTok (@findusontheroad), says there is something you can do before you get on the plane that might allow you to “choose” your seat for the journey.

In a recent TikTok video, she filmed herself and Greg at the end of a boarding queue. She captioned the video: “FLIGHT HACK: ALWAYS board your flight last and that way if they had you sitting next to someone before… now you can choose any open seat if the flight is not full.”

The video has garnered more than 4.1million views and 81,000 likes. Reacting in the comments section, one person said: “Shhh don’t give away our secrets.”

Another commenter claimed they were an airline worker for 10 years, and worked on around 20 to 30 flights every day. They said the “odds are very much not in your favour” with this hack, but admitted “it may work occasionally”.

However, those tempted to try their luck with the hack should brace themselves for potential embarrassment. One traveller shared their experience: “I did that once and had to shamefully walk to my seat lol.”

Another frequent flyer commented: “I used to ALWAYS do this, but now flights are always too full.”
