As the festive season draws near, many are considering a UK holiday to explore local activities and cuisines.
Scotland offers an array of destinations ideal for this time of year, whether you’re travelling with family, friends or going it alone.
Despite the chill, there’s no shortage of pubs, inns and eateries serving beer, with some regions offering more affordable pints than others.
To highlight these price differences, Alliance Online conducted a study into the average cost of a pint across the nation.
Their research revealed that Kilmarnock is the cheapest place for a pint in Scotland, with an average price of £3.25. The East Ayrshire town boasts over 30 pubs and bars.
Dunfermline and Glenrothes are hot on its heels as the second-cheapest locations for a pint, each with an average cost of £3.40. Ayr and Falkirk complete the top five, where the average pint will cost you £3.50.
Dundee also features on Alliance Online’s list of the top 10 cheapest places for a pint, with an average price of £3.67.
Meanwhile, beer lovers can expect to pay around £4 in Cumbernauld, Greenock, and Stirling, according to the Daily Record. Inverness rounds off the top 10, where the average pint costs £4.02.
Rachael Kiss from Alliance Online commented: “Our study shows that customers can still very much get a bargain beer if they look for one, with the cost of a pint varying depending on where you live in the UK.
“We were surprised to see such low prices in unexpected places that have well-reviewed local pubs.”
She added: “This is good news for locals and tourists alike! It is worth noting that no matter how cheap establishments price their beer, cleanliness of beer lines should remain a top priority.
“This is because not cleaning beer lines properly could risk a poor food hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency.”
