This season, Kentucky basketball fans have been treated to a new, fast-paced, exciting style of play. Coach Mark Pope has introduced a modern, high-speed offense, focusing on taking and making the 3 ball. This has made Kentucky games thrilling to watch.
The biggest problem is that fans haven’t been able to watch as easily as in the past. While the Wildcats’ play has fans excited for the future, there’s a big downside so far as well: too many games are airing on ESPN+ instead of regular television.
For fans used to tuning into Kentucky games on their TVs, the shift to ESPN+ has been more than frustrating.
In fact, four of the Wildcats’ first five games are available only on ESPN+ (the exception being the Duke game tomorrow on ESPN). This means fans have to stream the games through an app rather than watch on traditional TV channels. It’s just an extra hassle when you only want to turn on the TV and watch the Cats.
If you’re new to ESPN+, here’s a quick guide on how to get started:
If you have a smart TV, you can usually find the ESPN app in the app store. Download the app, sign in with your ESPN+ account (if you do not have one, you can sign up; an email is required), and you’re ready to stream.
For those without smart TVs, streaming devices like Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, or Apple TV allow you to access the ESPN+ app. They can be found at most big-box stores and online.
The ESPN app is available for download in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Just open your App Store app and search for ESPN. Once downloaded, open the app, sign in with your ESPN+ account, select the Watch tab at the bottom of the app, and you can watch any game there
Head to ESPN.com, log in with your ESPN+ account and click on the live stream for the Kentucky game. It’s straightforward on computers, and you don’t need to download anything extra.
Just like with phones, you can find the ESPN app in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Once you’ve installed it and signed in, it works the same way as on a phone.
While it’s not ideal to have these games off regular TV, there are only a few more games.
ESPN+ does require a subscription. Some TV companies partner with ESPN to offer ESPN+. Contact your local provider to see if yours does. If not, ESPN+ costs $11.99 per month or $119.99 per year. They also offer a bundle with Hulu and Disney; prices vary there.
