A GOLF club captain has quit after he dressed as paedophile rocker Gary Glitter for a party.
Other players came as Jimmy Savile and Osama bin Laden for the “wrong’uns” themed bash.
Phil Musker, 61, admitted a huge error in judgment and apologised for “inappropriate costumes” worn by some of the 80 male guests at Brocton Hall, Staffs.
The event, in its 20th year, was deemed a success — but Phil, appointed captain at the start of the year, said his voluntary resignation was prompted by complaints from two people “who weren’t even there”.
Mr Musker decided to go as Glitter because he had “a load of ’70s outfit stuff” that included a curly wig and high-heeled shoes. The dad added: “I didn’t think about it at the time.
“After a night of drinking, you look back the next day and say that was the wrong choice.”
In his resignation letter sent on Thursday following the dinner on October 12, Mr Musker said his conduct “fell short of the standards the club has a right to expect of its captain.”
Other partygoers attended as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.
Mr Musker added: “Certain costumes may have been inappropriate. I can only apologise to any staff and members who may have been offended.”
The committee at the 130-year-old club and wedding venue accepted his resignation and had begun an investigation.
