The Spanish luxury label is extending its global reach. After focusing on the Asian market with openings in South Korea and China, Loewe has now turned its attention to the U.S. with the launch of its first boutique in Illinois, located at 51 E Oak Street in Chicago.
The two-story boutique is designed in the brand’s warm and inviting “Casa Loewe” aesthetic, first introduced in 2016 at its flagship in Madrid. The store offers Loewe’s full range of women’s ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, small leather goods, sunglasses, and other accessories.
As part of Loewe’s unique store design, the space also features a curated selection of sculptures, furniture, and artisanal objects for clients to enjoy. Among the featured artworks are the painting “Courtyard” by British artist Lorna Robertson, the collage “Little Girl Inside” by artist Richard Hawkins, and two egg-tempera-on-leather works by New York painter Altoon Sultan titled “Dark Corner” and “Lines and Loop.”
This opening is another step in Loewe’s international expansion strategy. Beyond its focus on Asia, the brand has recently opened addresses in other international markets, including Brazil and Norway. In the U.S., Loewe now has a total of 17 boutiques, located in cities like Boston, Miami, New York, and Houston.
Founded in 1846 in Madrid as a leather workshop, Loewe is globally renowned for its artisanal craftsmanship and distinctive designs. Since 2013, the brand’s creative direction has been led by Irish designer Jonathan Anderson, also the founder of JW Anderson.
According to its latest financial results, Loewe posted a profit increase of 62.5% in fiscal 2023 compared to the previous year, reaching €207.3 million. This growth reflects a revenue increase of nearly 30%, totalling €810.8 million.
