The Mark Pope era started off with a bang as the Kentucky Wildcats never trailed in a dominant 123-52 win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Wednesday night in Rupp Arena.
Granted, Kentucky Wesleyan is a Division II school and this was just the first of two exhibitions before the real fun starts in early November. However, there’s no denying the fun that was had during the Wildcats’ 71-point victory. UK made 21 three-pointers while passing the ball up and down the floor to the tune of 32 assists and 39 fastbreak points. The defense held Kentucky Wesleyan to just 33 percent overall shooting while forcing 18 turnovers.
After the final buzzer sounded, Pope stepped up to the podium to provide his thoughts on his team’s debut performance. Shortly afterward, a trio of Wildcats — Otega Oweh, Trent Noah, and Koby Brea — answered questions from the media to give their take. You can hear everything all four had to say through the videos below.
