Designer Rejina Pyo is celebrating the 10th anniversary of her signature brand in style, curating a London art exhibition entitled ‘As She Is’.
Opening today (23 October) until 2 November at the Soho Revue Gallery, it showcases the work of 19 artists, “exploring the manifestations of womanhood through a breadth of forms”.
This includes a selection of paintings, sculptures, and mixed media pieces, “explored in layers and fragments to reveal a more nuanced language and understanding of the female condition”.
By bringing together these different voices, As She Is “creates an exchange and inquiry into some of the social constructs and personal narratives that shape women’s lives”.
Including an art installation by the designer herself entitled ‘Mother’s Objects’, the exhibition also features works by a broad spectrum of artists including Ángela de la Cruz, Antonia Showering, Caroline Walker, Cassi Namoda, Catherine Repko Cathleen Clarke, Cece Philips, Chantal Joffe, Eileen Cooper, Jane Yang-D’Haene, Joline Kwakkenbos, Lyson Marchessault, Mia Chaplin, Nengi Omuku, Rachel Cusk, Rejina Pyo, Sammi Lynch, Sis Cowie, and Yoona Hur.
Pyo said: “I have always painted and taken inspiration from art, and usually these influences would be translated into a collection, but this time I wanted people to see the source material, to celebrate in a more direct way the great art that has inspired my collections over the last 10 years, and helped to shape Rejina Pyo into the brand it is today.”
