The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced its 2024 New Wave: Creatives, a list of the “50 most innovative and inspiring young creative talents who play a critical role within the fashion industry globally”.
The list includes names from multiple disciplines such as casting directors, photographers, art directors, hair and make-up artists, image makers, nail artists, set designers and stylists. They’ll be celebrated as part of The Fashion Awards in December.
The 50 creatives include set designer and decorator Tatyana Jinto Rutherston; photographer and director Thibault Jouvent; stylist and consultant Rudy Simba Betty; hairstylist Mideyah Parker; make-up artist Jezz Hill; set designer Jeanne Briand; and artist Alexandra Smith, among others.
BFC chief Caroline Rush said the New Wave: Creatives initiative is “an invaluable platform for recognising and celebrating the diverse talents shaping the future of fashion, the community beyond the designers and creative directors. These emerging artists, often working behind the scenes, are redefining creativity across multiple disciplines and transforming the way fashion is experienced globally. The 2024 cohort represents an exciting new generation with innovative and diverse perspectives that are key to the industry’s evolution”.
She added that the list “highlights London’s position as an international hub of creativity and pays homage to the incredible success of both home-grown and international talent”.
Being on the list isn’t only about recognition, important though that is. The creatives will also benefit from year-round social media support across the BFC’s channels.
