The biggest names in modelling came out for the return of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday evening.
Fan-favourite Angels like Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Joan Smalls and Doutzen Kroes were joined by VS newcomers including Vittoria Ceretti, Paloma Elsesser and Ashley Graham, and catwalk legends like Carla Bruni, Eva Herzigova and Tyra Banks. The Hadid sisters were given the honour of opening (Gigi) and closing (Bella) the show, while supermodel Kate Moss made her Victoria’s Secret debut (and her daughter, Lila Moss, also walked).
Naturally, there were plenty of elaborate costumes and dramatic feathered wings on show, with specially crafted shoes by Rene Caovilla, which the models showcased on the catwalk at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York.
The event marked a much-talked-about return to the brand’s famed runway show, which was last staged in 2018. In the years since, Victoria’s Secret has initiated a head-to-toe overhaul, attempting to refashion the brand into one that uplifts and embraces diversity and size inclusivity. Last year, the company reimagined the show as a documentary that featured the talents of designers from across the globe, dubbed the Victoria’s Secret World Tour.
This year, as the show returned to a traditional catwalk format, viewers were also able to tune watch live and simultaneously shop the looks in real-time as they debuted on the runway, with the pieces made available for purchase in the Amazon Fashion store.
