One new fashion brand arrival and one returning continues London’s storied King’s Road as a key destination for design-led independents.
Landlord Sloane Stanley Estate continues to attract new names with designer footwear and accessories brand Penelope Chilvers opening its fourth store in the capital at 328 King’s Road, while also attracting returning brands with women’s fashion label KayaNuka opening a third pop-up at 324-326.
The 1,327 sq ft Penelope Chilvers store brings its “made-to-last fashion” to the Chelsea neighbourhood alongside its locations in Notting Hill, Mayfair, Belgravia, and The Cotswolds.
Combining “contemporary, fashion-led design with enduring style and traditional Spanish craftsmanship, Penelope Chilvers produces timeless, made-to-last pieces that work seamlessly with each season’s trends”.
Known particularly for its ‘Long Tassle Boot’, collections have since grown to include the ‘Incredible Boot’, the creped soled ‘Neon Safari’ boot, and ‘Goodyear’ welted outdoor footwear “for experience and adventure”.
KayaNuka, meanwhile, brand brigs together its curated jewellery, accessories, and women’s fashion. Marking its third pop-up on the Sloane Stanley Estate, the store will feature until the New Year.
Its name means ‘Older & Younger’ in Cherokee and reflects the brand’s mother/daughter heritage. The pop-up showcases “inspirational, boho-chic jewellery collections… offering unique and special pieces, and delivering an exclusive, physical insight into the [otherwise] online-only brand”.
Georgia Beckett, co-founder at KayaNuka, said: “Sloane Stanley has been so supportive of our physical step into retail, and it has been fantastic to build our brand presence in one of the most iconic retail destinations in London. When we had the opportunity to come back for a third time, it was a no-brainer for us – they deliver a solid platform for us to grow and engage with the neighbourhood, and it allows us to host other incredible small businesses and be part of a thriving independent community.”
Hannah Grievson, Property Director at Sloane Stanley, added: “Penelope Chilvers and KayaNuka are exactly the kind of names we’re after to add to our growing roster of independent brands. Our expertise lies very much in supporting the transition from online presence to physical retail, and is what makes our location so successful. Both brands have created solid roots in building their customer base, bringing new visitors to our Estate, and complement the area in every way possible.”
