US clean beauty brand Ilia Beauty has named Paul Schiraldi (formerly with Unilever Prestige) as its new CEO. Schiraldi is the former CEO of skincare brand Murad, owned by Unilever Prestige. Ilia Beauty’s majority shareholder is Famille C, the holding company of the Courtin-Clarins families, proprietors of the Clarins group.
Schiraldi succeeds Lynda Berkowitz, who had held the post since 2016, and played a key role in growing Ilia Beauty. The brand’s revenue is now reportedly in the region of $200 million (€181 million), well up from the $100 million generated in 2021.
Ilia Beauty was launched in 2011 by Sasha Plavsic. Its products combine make-up and skin treatments by using active ingredients with anti-ageing, nourishing and moisturising properties. Ilia Beauty is established in some 30 countries, notably via chains like Mecca, Sephora and Oh My Cream!, and is an extremely digital-savvy brand.
Schiraldi’s mission will be to accelerate the international expansion of Ilia Beauty, currently very well established in North America.
Schiraldi is a specialist in the beauty industry. He began his career in 1999 at Revlon, and in 2003 he joined the L’Oréal group, where he worked for 17 years, serving as managing director of the Matrix and Biolage brands for the USA from 2013 to 2020. In 2020, He joined Unilever Prestige as managing director USA of Dermalogica. In November 2021, he was appointed global CEO of Murad.
