Missoni has chosen a company veteran Alberto Caliri to be its new creative director, replacing Filippo Grazioli at the Italian knitwear specialist, sources told Fashion Network.
Back in 2022, Grazioli had taken the reins of Missoni’s creative department, overseeing lifestyle as well. In effect, he had taken over the position that had been Caliri’s for the previous two years.
Caliri had been Angela Missoni‘s right-hand man for the previous 15 years. He had been named to helm the men’s and women’s collections in 2021, when she announced her farewell to the creative leadership, retaining only the presidency of the company.
In May 2020, investment fund FSI acquired a 41.2% stake in Missoni. The family retains the remaining 58.%.
At that point, the then-newly-appointed CEO Livio Proli chose an external designer, Filippo, Grazioli, to oversee all Missoni’s ready-to-wear. While the talented Caliri had moved sideways to lead the home line, an important segment for the Sumirago-based Maison. Under Caliri, the home line experienced a new era of success.
It was Alberto himself who successfully launched the Resort Club project, promoting the brand’s style and iconicity around the world by customizing exclusive locations in Italy and abroad in which to fully immerse and experience the Missoni lifestyle philosophy.
After several complicated years, Missoni reportedly returned to growth last year.
