Coverage during the game:
LEXINGTON — Kentucky football laid an egg last week, putting forth one of the worst performances of Mark Stoops‘ tenure as coach in a 31-6 home loss to South Carolina.
And the schedule doesn’t do the Wildcats any favors.
UK takes the field for its second SEC game of the season today, hosting top-ranked Georgia.

The Bulldogs, who are 48-2 in their last 50 games and have won 41 straight regular-season contests, have dominated the series with the Wildcats. UGA leads 63-12-2, with 14 consecutive victories. Stoops is winless (0-11) against Georgia.
Today’s matchup takes on extra meaning for two of Kentucky’s most high-profile players: quarterback Brock Vandagriff and linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson both were members of UGA’s 2021 signing class and spent the past three seasons with the program before transferring and joining UK earlier this year.
Vandagriff will look to rebound after a forgettable showing against South Carolina, as he completed 30% (3 for 10) of his attempts for 30 yards, no touchdowns and an interception that was returned for a score. Dumas-Johnson has tallied six tackles (1.5 for loss), an interception and a quarterback hurry through two games with the Wildcats.
The pair’s reunion tussle against their former teammates will kick off under the lights today at Kroger Field.
Alex Raynor still accounts for every point Kentucky has mustered today. He just converted on a 51-yard field goal to cut Georgia’s lead to one.
Finally, a scoring play that isn’t a field goal: Georgia tailback Branson Robinson punches it in from the 3-yard line to give Georgia its first lead.
In a game of field goals, Georgia has another.
Peyton Woodring’s kick was true from 30 yards out.
Give Alex Raynor yet another field goal. His latest 3-pointer was from 40 yards to cap the opening possession of the second half.
Prior to Saturday, the last time Georgia had three (or fewer) points after two quarters was last season against South Carolina. That day, UGA trailed 14-3 at intermission.
But the Bulldogs stormed back to take a 24-14 victory at Sanford Stadium.
Alex Raynor has his second field goal of the game. This one was from 32 yards away just before the first half concludes.
Following a Kentucky turnover, a fumble by Brock Vandagriff, Georgia capitalizes and gets on the board.
But UK limits the damage, holding UGA to a field goal: a 34 yarder by Peyton Woodring.
Kentucky strong safety Zion Childress had a 55-yard pick six.
Until he didn’t. Initially, it was ruled Childress picked off a Carson Beck pass and took it to the house with 8:18 remaining before halftime.
But after review, officials ruled the pass hit the ground before Childress caught it and scored.
Kentucky kicker Alex Raynor knocks in a 55-yard field goal to give the hosts a 3-0 lead.
The 55-yard field goal is a school record for UK.
Bob Baffert, who has more victories (17) in Triple Crown races than any trainer in history, is at Kroger Field for tonight’s game between Kentucky and Georgia.
The Wildcats had two players listed as game-time decisions on the final availability report prior to kickoff: Maxwell Hairston and offensive lineman Gerald Mincey.
Hairston was dressed out and went through pregame warmups.
As UK’s lineup appeared on the Kroger Field videoboard prior to kickoff, Mincey was announced as the starting right tackle.
Georgia cornerback Daniel Harris was arrested Thursday on a reckless driving charge after being clocked driving 106 mph.
The arrest didn’t prevent him from traveling with the Bulldogs for tonight’s game, however.
A key reserve in Georgia’s secondary, Harris has combined for four tackles through two games.
The final availability report for Saturday’s game was released 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
Nine players are out for Kentucky:
Two more Wildcats are game-time decisions: defensive back Maxwell Hairston and offensive lineman Gerald Mincey.
Georgia has four players who won’t suit up today: running back Roderick Robinson II and defensive linemen Warren Brinson, Jordan Hall and Mykel Williams.
The Bulldogs have one game-time decision: defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod.
Kentucky vs. Georgia will be broadcast nationally on ABC. Sean McDonough and Greg McElroy will call the game from the booth at Kroger Field, with Molly McGrath reporting from the sidelines. Streaming options for the game include FUBO, which offers a free trial to new subscribers.
Georgia 37, Kentucky 17: The Wildcats will play better than last week — even if the final score doesn’t necessarily reflect it. To beat the Bulldogs, an opponent needs a near-perfect effort and an off day from Kirby Smart‘s team. UK will keep it close for a bit before it falls by double digits and into an 0-2 hole in the conference standings.
Game lines and odds from BetMGM as of today:
Per the SEC’s latest availability report, posted at 8:10 p.m. Friday, Kentucky has a lengthy list of players listed as “out” for today’s matchup. That group includes:
Georgia has four players not expected to play: running back Roderick Robinson II and a trio of defensive linemen (Warren Brinson, Jordan Hall and Mykel Williams).
The high is 86 degrees with partly sunny skies and only an 8% chance of rain in the forecast.
