Market-leading global beauty brand L’Oréal Paris has named British supermodel-turned-actress and activist Cara Delevingne as its latest ambassador.
The role is a global one and the company said that she’s “the queen of reinvention and an inspirational figure of resilience. Strong, unapologetic, edgy and authentic, Delevingne leads by example, empowering women take charge of their destiny and overcome life challenges”.
She began modelling at a young age, being hugely in demand for editorial, campaigns and runways, and transitioned to movie acting in 2012. This year, she makes her stage debut in the role of Sally Bowles in the West End’s multi-award-winning revival of Cabaret.
Her appeal to the brand, apart from her striking appearance is that “always pushing the limits to free her own potential, she sends a message to all women that change is powerful and that there is no ceiling to ambition”.
The company added that she “defined the look of a generation with her trademark ‘boy brows’. Today, she continues to defy convention, with sharp beauty looks and her unapologetic personality shining through everything she does, leaving an indelible impression”.
And of course, her social media following of over 66 million is also a key element in her appeal.
Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, L’Oréal Paris global brand president, said she “embodies our mission to empower women everywhere no matter what hurdles stand in their way. In owning her strengths and desires but also her vulnerabilities and challenges, she inspires us all to achieve our ambitions and believe that anything is possible. She really is worth it!”
