Two top-tier and in-form European sides clash in the Nations League group stage as Germany travel to Amsterdam to take on the Netherlands on Tuesday.
Both nations won their first group match of the current Nations League tournament convincingly, with Germany blasting Hungary 5-0 and the Dutch trouncing Bosnia & Herzegovina by a 5-2 score.
Nobody for either team recorded more than a single goal in both those games, evenly spreading 10 goal scorers out across the pair of matches. It’s a strong indication that the two forward units are not only firing on all cylinders but also healthy with strong depth of talent.
These two teams are hoping to take additional steps in building towards the 2026 World Cup after achieving strong but not overwhelmingly impressive results at Euro 2024 this summer. Germany’s quarterfinal defeat to Spain in extra-time would be considered more of a disappointment on home soil had Spain not gone on to win the title, while the Dutch fell to runners-up England in the semifinals.

These two teams are very evenly matched, and there’s no reason to shy away from planting yourself firmly on the fence. They’ve drawn twice in their last five meetings and finished with a one-goal margin in two others, so there have been plenty of tight matchups of late.
Germany are probably the better team on paper, but they’ve played so many games at home in the past year having hosted Euro 2024, it’s hard to know how they’ll handle hitting the road for the first time since a 2-0 win in France back in March. They needed an 85th-minute winner from Niclas Fullkrug to beat the Dutch at home the last time they squared off, so traveling to Amsterdam could shift the match enough in favor of the hosts to pick up a result.

After the high-flying performances from both these teams in their first matches of the international window, and in today’s over-heavy betting market, it’s a shock that the goals total in this match isn’t higher.
This is especially true when you consider the Netherlands conceded two goals to a stunted Bosnia & Herzegovina attack along with their five-goal haul, while Germany conceded over 1.0 xG to Hungary despite keeping a clean sheet.
It’s clear both sides want to attack at will even while allowing themselves to be somewhat open at the back, and while it’s hard to imagine either side reprising a five-goal performance on their own, they could get there collectively.
Take your pick, the value on all three of these German stars to contribute on the scoresheet is through the roof. No, Germany won’t be scoring five goals today, but they should find room to create chances and trouble the Netherlands net, and all three are in electric form.
The best value by far is on Jamal Musiala, who has finally found a groove at the national team level. Still just 21 years old, Musiala had a slow start to his Die Mannschaft career despite exploding to life with Bayern Munich, but he’s made good on that over the last calendar year, racking up 10 goal contributions over his last 12 international appearances, including three goals at Euro 2024 and a one-goal three assist explosion against Hungary last time out.
If you’re not convinced by the youngster’s consistency just yet, try one of the other playmakers in the lineup. Florian Wirtz is a bona fide star, scoring and assisting against Hungary to give him four contributions in the last six games. Meanwhile, Kai Havertz looks revitalized after appearing broken during his Chelsea days, owning six international goals plus an assist since last November.
Anyone will do here, and you’ll still profit if you pick two and hit just one, but shade towards Musiala who is not only in the best form but also picked up an assist last time these two teams squared off.
