BBC Sport at the Eiffel Tower Stadium
It has been commonly said through the Olympics and Paralympics that the Eiffel Tower Stadium is among the most stunning at recent Games.
But seeing it with your own eyes, especially with the eponymous landmark lit up, is something else.
The football itself was good too, as hosts France edged out China with a second half goal amid a crackling atmosphere, to begin their campaign with victory in their opening group fixture.
There was a dramatic conclusion too, as China missed a penalty with 27 seconds remaining after France had a man sent off.
The crowd – who have to stay silent during play in order to allow players to hear the ball – mostly behaved themselves, except for a countdown of the final few seconds before celebrations began.
