Lydia Ko is walking down the 18th fairway deep in conversation with playing partner Alexa Pano like she’s out on a Tuesday morning knockabout.

She reaches her ball in the middle of the fairway and studies the yardage book with her caddie. The club is selected. The wind has been monitored. The rain looks to have abated.

But first it’s Alexa Pano. We’ve barely seen the American, who is at one under and is chasing a Solheim Cup pick. She finds the centre of the green.
