The latest Liverpool news concerning Mohamed Salah and Ademola Lookman
Liverpool started the Premier League with an emphatic 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town last weekend thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota. The win at Portman Road was Arne Slot’s first as head coach.
Next up for the Reds is a first home game of the season as they face Brentford at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. It’s a game that could see them come up against familiar faces in Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg, who both swapped the Reds for the Bees this month.
But away from the field, here is the latest Liverpool news in the headlines on Friday, August 23.

Mohamed Salah showcases incredible physique
Mohamed Salah has once again demonstrated his commitment to Liverpool as he took to Instagram to share a late-night fitness session.
The 32-year-old’s future has been the topic of much discussion recently as he entered the final 12 months of his historic Anfield contract earlier this summer. As it stands, he will leave the club at the end of June as a free agent.
Such speculation, though, hasn’t stopped Salah from ensuring he remains at the top of his game for the Reds this season, with the forward posting a post-fitness session picture of himself and his incredible physique on Thursday night – just days before the Reds face Brentford at Anfield.
Salah’s strike at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon was his 300th goal contribution in his 350th game since signing from AS Roma in the summer of 2017.
Paris Saint-Germain reach agreement with Liverpool-linked forward
Former Everton, Fulham and Leicester City forward Ademola Lookman has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.
The 26-year-old Nigeria international enjoyed a stellar 2023-24 campaign, which he topped off by becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in the Europa League final as Atalanta defeated Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool and Arsenal had been linked with a move for Lookman, but Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg is reporting that he has agreed personal terms with the Ligue 1 champions and it will now be up to the two clubs to agree on a fee.
