The biggest night on London’s fashion calendar might still be a few months away, but the excitement is already ramping up as the nominees for the 2024 Fashion Awards have officially been unveiled.
Set to take place on Monday December 2 at the Royal Albert Hall, the annual event, organised by the British Fashion Council and supported by Pandora, celebrates ‘the role of fashion at the intersection of culture and entertainment’ and spotlights creative talents with a focus on British designers that have been making waves in the industry.
Categories include Model of the Year, Designer of the Year, British Menswear Designer, British Womenswear Designer and British Accessories Designer to name but a few, with winners to be announced on the night. The shortlist for each was defined by a jury of key press and buyers – including ELLE UK‘s Editor-In-Chief Kenya Hunt – and will now be voted on by a committee of 1,000 leading industry members.

Chemena Kamali, who recently took the reins as creative director at Chloé, and is the brains behind the brand’s viral front-row wedges moment as well as the recent boho renaissance at large, is among the nominees for Designer of the Year, alongside industry icons like Miuccia Prada and Rick Owens. John Galliano has also been nominated for the top prize, following his fabulously fantastical, era-defining Maison Margiela Artisanal show that closed the SS24 couture season.
Meanwhile, the coveted Model of the Year award will go to one of Alva Claire, Alex Consani, Amelia Gray, Anok Yai, Liu Wen or Mona Tougaard, each of whom has dominated the industry over the last twelve months and displayed an influence that transcends the catwalk.
The Fashion Awards aims to celebrate and showcase British talent in particular, with special categories for local designers. Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena are among nominees in the New Establishment category for their buzzy brand Chopova Lowena, that will return to the London Fashion Week schedule this coming season, alongside 16Arlington’s Marco Capaldo and Dilara Fındıkoğlu.
Jonathan Anderson, winner of the Designer of the Year award in 2023, has been nominated in an impressive three categories, while the likes of Simone Rocha, Maximilian Davis for Ferragamo and Kim Jones for Dior Men have also been recognised for their contribution to the international fashion landscape.
The winners will be revealed on the night as part of the star-studded ceremony, that is set to be attended by the great and the good of the fashion world – and a few surprise celebrity guests to boot. Last year, the likes of Anne Hathaway, Pamela Anderson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charli XCX and Amal Clooney were among those who descended on the capital for the event, much to the audience’s delight. Let the countdown commence.
