The family of a 19-year-old woman found stabbed in a car park at Crawley train station have paid tribute to a “much-loved daughter, sister and mother”.
Stephanie Marie was found in Station Way on Sunday morning “with stab injuries”, Sussex Police said. She was treated by paramedics but confirmed dead at the scene.
In a statement, her family said: “We are devastated that her young life has been ended in this way. She had her whole life ahead of her.”
Jason Pascal Flore, 26, was remanded in custody when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with murder.
Mr Flore, of no fixed abode, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address. He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday.
Police were called to a report of an altercation between a man and woman at about 07:10 BST on Sunday.
Ms Marie’s family said she was a sport lover who “excelled” at basketball, football and gymnastics.
“We will miss her so much. Life will never be the same,” the statement said.
Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact British Transport Police.
“Our specialist officers are supporting Stephanie’s family and friends,” said Det Supt Sam Blackburn, who is the senior investigating officer.
“Please can we ask for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.”
