A travel enthusiast has revealed how to enjoy a trip to Milan without breaking the bank.
As summer holidays kick off, many of us are dusting off our suitcases and checking passport expiry dates. Some opt for a mini break within the UK, while others venture overseas – with a lucky few ticking off destinations from their bucket list.
One such hotspot that’s sure to be bustling this summer is Milan. The vibrant Italian city, renowned for its cuisine and fashion scene, continues to captivate tourists and inspire dreams of living there.
However, as the wealthiest metropolitan area in Italy, according to Expatica, it can deter some travellers due to its high costs. But Bex, a woman from Yorkshire, has shared her tips on how to significantly reduce expenses after embarking on a solo trip to the city.
Bex, who has amassed 6.1 million likes on TikTok, said she often gets asked about her Milan trip.
“With flights so cheap I thought it was time to start to give a snapshot,” she said while revealing that you can snag flights from the UK to Milan for as little as £30.
She continued: “This trip was a couple of years ago but I’ve checked out most of the train and ferry fares and they are still very similar, the only thing you won’t get these days is an £11 flight but £28 (current price) is still pretty good! “.
Bex suggested journeying to Milan Malpensa from Manchester Airport, which is available for as low as £11 for a round trip with Ryanair. Her independent travel stretched over two days.
Additionally, she had to pay £17 for airport parking, £4.70 for enjoying a cable car ride through the city and another £5 for a trip aboard a Funicular. The first night’s stay at Villa Belvedere came up to £54, whereas her second night was spent at Spice Hotel Milano for £39.
Bex voiced: “This trip was in January so bear in mind prices will be higher in season but I always tell people to travel out of season as it’s so quiet and you can still get beautiful weather just like I did.”
In appreciation of Bex’s savvy travel advice, one person retorted: “I love how you’ve done this – very inspiring.” Another deemed her suggestions as “outstanding”, while someone else expressed their desire to go by adding: “God I wish I lived in Europe! I’d make the most of these flights.”
