Putting on a show isn’t something Christian Louboutin does by halves – and this Paris Fashion Week was no different. To usher in their SS24 collection, the iconic brand staged a performance in the renowned Grand Amphitheatre of La Sorbonne in the city, joining forces with Moroccan artist Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui – Beyoncé and Lady Gaga are a few of his famous collaborators – and sixteen dance performers.
Inspired by the relationship between humans and technology, an avatar of lead dancer Viktoria Modesta, a performing artist, musician, and creative director, wearing Louboutin’s trademark spikes as a prosthetic encrusted with crystals appeared on multiple LED screens. Another highlight included the dancers banding together to perform a beautiful sequence soundtracked by an Arabic love poem, clad in black bodysuits, trousers and those classic red-sole boots festooned in rhinestones.
‘Dance is universal. In any culture, dance has its own special resonance,’ said Christian Louboutin of the stellar show. ‘Sidi Larbi did this amazing mix of styles and culture. That is something I also cherish in my work.’
