Boogie Fland is sticking with John Calipari.
After Calipari left Kentucky for Arkansas, Fland quickly got out of his NLI with the Wildcats, though Mark Pope did stay in contact with the 5-star guard.
Alas, Fland is now committed to the Razorbacks.
One of the top guards in the 2024 class, Fland originally committed to Kentucky in the fall over the likes of Indiana, Alabama, Michigan, and North Carolina, among others. He is currently ranked 19th overall and second among combo guards, according to 247 Sports Composite.
Playing for Archbishop Stepinac (NY), Fland averaged 19.2 points on 46% shooting from the field (36% on 3s) to go with 6.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 steals in his senior season. He was named the MaxPreps New York High School Player of the Year.
Fland joins Karter Knox and Zvonimir Ivisic as former Kentucky recruits/players to make their way to Fayetteville.
One guard Kentucky is still in the mix for is Miami Hurricanes transfer Wooga Poplar.
According to 247 Sports’ Dushawn London, Kentucky is among the schools who’ve already contacted Poplar.
Other contenders include Kansas, Villanova, and Rick Pitino’s St. John’s program.

A class of 2021 4-star recruit, Poplar spent three seasons in Coral Gables and was part of the Canes’ Final Four run in 2023. That year, he averaged 8.4 points (47% shooting and 37.5% on 3s), 3.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in 23.6 minutes per game.
This past season, the 6-foot-5, 197-pound Poplar averaged 13.1 points (42.6% shooting) and 38.5% on 3s), 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 0.8 steals in 31.2 minutes per game. He primarily plays from the 2 and 3 spots in the backcourt.
One of his best games of the season came in Kentucky’s blowout win over the Hurricanes, where he went for 19 points (7/13 shooting), eight boards, two steals, and one assist.
Poplar has one year of eligibility remaining. I think Kentucky will need to miss on several guys for him to become a serious option, but it’s always good to have options.
