Good morning, BBN!
Mark Pope has been frivolously recruiting to try and put a team together for next season.
There have been some hits, some misses, and a lot of unknowns. With the late start to the game, Pope has been trying to play catch up and hire a full staff to help him do just that. A list of commitments for next year as it stands:
Williams was a huge addition to the staff as it gave them a frontcourt presence. Pope is now trying to get some help down there.
Jayden Quaintance, former Cat commit and the No. 8 player in the 2024 rankings, informed Arkansas that he will not be attending. There was some noise about Kentucky still being in contention, but Cats had their in-person with him canceled, meaning they’re likely out.
Great Osobor has a scheduled visit with the Cats next week. Standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 250 pounds, pairing him with the 6-foot-10 Williams would be scary.
Osobor averaged 17.7 points (57.7% shooting), 9.0 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 1.3 steals, and 2.8 assists in 33.7 minutes per game—some serious production.
The Louisville Cardinals, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Washington Huskies are also expected to get visits, so we likely won’t know his decision for the next two weeks.
Ugonna Onyenso just entered the transfer portal yesterday as well. He’s been as good as gone for a while now.
The same likely goes for Adou Thiero, who is likely heading to another school but is considering a return to Kentucky.
It’s a big week for the big men at Kentucky. Let’s see if Mark Pope can keep the momentum going.
Can’t wait to see him play next year!
Nothing like BBN.
