Spain is one of the UK’s leading holiday destinations but many tourists flock straight to the country’s big name hotspots.
Whether it’s the Costa del Sol, Tenerife or Benidorm, Spain’s beach destinations are popular for a reason.
However, the country has plenty of hidden gems where tourists can escape some of the summer crowds.
Express.co.uk received exclusive data from Home2Go of some of Spain’s least searched destinations on the platform.
The team selected destinations that haven’t appeared in the most 100 searched locations in Spain this year.
A small village in the mountains, Finestrat is one of Spain’s only destinations to combine mountains and beaches within just a few miles.
A Home2Go spokesperson said: “A serene village atmosphere, surrounded by rugged mountains and sandy beaches with easy access to nearby resort towns.”
Just 20 minutes from Benidorm, the village is much more peaceful than its neighbour and has a gorgeous coastline.
Spain’s Costa Dorada, or ‘Golden Coast’, might not be as well known as the Costa del Sol or Costa Blanca but it’s a gorgeous destination for a holiday.
A spokesperson said: “Sandy beaches, Roman ruins, and a charming medieval old town, all nestled along the picturesque Costa Dorada.”
Tourists can go for a stroll along Altafulla’s seafront promenade or explore the Botigues de Mar which is where the town’s fishermen used to live.
Spain’s northern regions are often neglected in favour of the country’s sunny south but visitors will be rewarded with quieter beaches and gorgeous landscapes. Oviedo is a town in Spain’s northwest.
A spokesperson said: “Impressive architecture, a vibrant foodie scene with cider houses and tapas bars, and a historic old town with cobblestone streets.”
Make sure to taste some of the local delicacies if you visit Oviedo as the town is known for its cheese.
