Burberry is celebrating “a shared passion for circularity” with a special pop-up in Selfridges, London, for ReBurberry, which is open only until 13 March.
Focusing on the trench, scarf and leather accessories, the pop-up offers a range of services that help extend the life of shoppers’ Burberry pieces.
It’s located in the department store’s ReSelfridges destination, a space where, alongside secondhand and archive pieces, customers can discover repair, resale and customisation services. An artisan from Burberry’s Castleford factory, which has made its tench coats since 1972, will be on hand to offer repairs, customisation and restoration to customer-owned trench coats.
And for a limited time, ReBurberry at Selfridges offers a selection of trench coats dating from pre-1999 “that have been individually revived by Burberry’s team of specialist artisans”. Each style is individually numbered and features a label that states ‘Proudly Restored by Burberry’.
Meanwhile, through the Scarf Upcycle remake service, Burberry scarves can be repaired with custom embroidery and darning, which means that as well as repairing them, the service can offer an element of bespoke.
There’s also the existing Cashmere Refresh service for scarves. The company said the “initiative restores the soft finish of cashmere” through a specialised process that includes brushing, steaming and misting. Cashmere Refresh is part of a range of ReBurberry restoration services available at select Burberry stores.
