A woman and her best friend were left in stitches after getting on a flight recently – as they realised they were the only passengers.
The pair got the entire plane to themselves for the duration of the flight and could not believe it. Friends Natalie Wolfley and Savannah Sargent were flying home to Phoenix, Arizona, in the US, after visiting Salt Lake City for Natalie’s bridal shower.
But, they were in disbelief when they arrived at the airport and a member of staff at Southwest Airlines, informed the pair that they were the only two to have booked seats on the plane, which holds 173.
“He was being so serious,” Natalie said. “How does that happen?,” Savannah added in shock. The pair, who shared what happened in a viral TikTok which has raked in 5.8million views, said that staff confessed it “never happens”.
The best friends were giddy with excitement to experience their private plane experience, without having to pay the luxury price tag. “I feel VIP,” Natalie confessed. “I’m so excited to get on this plane.”
Flights with very few or no passengers often continue with their journey as planned in order to reposition planes for future routes. Other times it’s to transport flight crew or cargo to the location of their next departure.
As they got onboard, the shocked flight crew also joined in on the fun. One flight attendant hilariously began each announcement by saying, “alright, Savannah and Natalie,” over the PA system while looking directly into Wolfley’s camera.
The besties were delighted that they could be as loud as they wanted without disturbing sleeping passengers. Natalie added: “We’re going to have the best yap session of my life. No one’s going to hear us. We are 10,000 feet in the air, yapping away, loud as we want on this plane.”
Plus, the friends were able to get a once-in-a-lifetime experience by sitting in the cockpit. They were even able to take pictures!
In response, the pilot joked: “They’ve taken over the aircraft.” And following the lucky day out, Natalie added: “That was like the best experience of my life, honestly.”
People were left gobsmacked after seeing the video – and cannot believe the flight went ahead. One individual said: “I’m shocked they didn’t cancel it omg. This is iconic.”
“Honestly, shout out to Southwest for not cancelling that flight,” noted another individual.” “May this type of luck find me,” prayed another.
One other pointed out: “Honestly, this is way more realistic to me. I’ve always wondered why there are 174 other people flying to Cincinatti on a random Tuesday with me.”
A woman who works on planes said: “As a flight attendant I can tell you that is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!”
Others thought it was cute that the pair sat together despite having rows and rows of seats to themselves. NFL team Philadelphia Eagles commented and said: “The fact that you’re still in the same row at each other.”
“I love how you guys had a whole plane and still sat in the same row,” added another.
One other said they would be scared if this happened to them, and another wrote: “No, because this would give me anxiety and think someone set this up as like a trap.”
