It’s great to be back up and running this weekend with the weather easing up and the ground softening, and we have some good chances over the next three days, writes HARRY SKELTON.
WINDSOR
FRIDAY
HONKY TONK HIGHWAY – 12.40pm Windsor
She was a good winner last time out over two miles, and we’re stepping her up to three here which I don’t think should be an issue. She won a point-to-point over three miles, so we don’t see this big step up being a problem. She’s a mare that races behind the bridle and always has a bit left but we’ve got to find a few pounds with some of the rest at the weights. If this turns into a stamina test, we think she’ll keep going. She’s better than her mark but that said we’ve got to step up and see that improvement from her. There’s some good prize money on offer so we’re taking our chance.
DEAFENING SILENCE – 1.15pm Windsor
He’s got what he needs here, a three-mile trip on soft ground. He ran okay the first couple of times over fences and has gained some valuable experience from that and I think he’s improving with his runs. He’s definitely improved fitness-wise, and he’s starting to come into form now. He looks like he holds a good chance here based on his hurdle form from last season and we think he’ll be very competitive.
PANIC ATTACK – 2.25pm Windsor
She holds a strong chance back over fences, which she’s won over before, with this step up to two-and-a-half miles suiting her too. She has produced two nice runs for us, staying on well last time out at Newbury, and looks to have taken a nice step forward since then. We’re confident of a competitive run.
LANGER DAN – 3.00pm Windsor
He was disappointing last time out, and never looked like he wanted to get involved. He jumped the first flight of hurdles quite big, and he does have a tendency to do that. He’s a real character so we’re hoping to sharpen him up by racing him again. At home he’s a tricky horse to get fit as he does the bare minimum, so it’ll be a bit of a watching brief. We know he’s got the ability but he needs to step up from his last two runs.
KNICKERBOCKERGLORY – 3.35pm Windsor
He was a good winner at Sandown last time out and seemed to really enjoy the soft ground. It’s a different track here, flat and left-handed, but the ground should suit. He’s in good form and we’ve had this race in mind for quite some time as there is some decent prize money on offer. It’s a competitive race but we hope he’s still got it in him to run well once again.
