Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs fell to the Eagles in Sunday night’s Super Bowl.
With defeat, Kansas City have been denied a historic three-peat, which was discussed for most of the season.
Had Mahomes led his team to victory last night, the debate between him and Brady – a seven-time Super Bowl champion – would no doubt rage on.
The pair are often compared, and had Mahomes achieved something that even the great Brady failed to do, he would certainly have a claim at the GOAT crown.
However, it didn’t work out that way and naturally, fans were quick to declare the debate between the pair ‘over’.
Even ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith agrees, at least for now.
“It’s officially over, there’s nothing to talk about,” he told First Take, suggesting four-time Super Bowl winner Joe Montana should be back in the conversation.
“You talk about that GOAT conversation, that went out of the window last night.”
