The Creative Development Department is one of the smaller and newer departments at Norwich Theatre, and has arisen from targeted work the theatre has undertaken to support local artists and the creative of new work, began in 2020. The theatre has developed an excellent reputation both locally and regionally for its accessible training and development programmes, bespoke and holistic approach to supporting artists and companies to develop and sustain careers, and for resourcing and promoting the creation of new work at Stage Two and beyond.
This new role of Creative Development Producer will join the department at an exciting stage as it enters a second strategic phase, with the ambition to secure a nationally leading profile for its work and the work of artists it collaborates with.
Supporting the Head of Creative development, the post holder will have specific responsibility for the planning and coordination of a rolling programme of activity for the theatre’s Artist Network, the producing of scratch nights and new work sharings, and for day-to-day support for artists in residence. In addition, they will provide occasional targeted support to the producing team on work originated or co-produced by Norwich Theatre
With experience of working within an arts environment in a producing, programming or event/project management capacity, you will have a good understanding of the purpose of artist/talent development, and knowledge of different approaches
Being able to work fluidly, flexibly and in close partnership, balancing a focus on day-to-day tasks with the ability to think strategically; bringing innovative, challenging and creative ideas to the table will be key for this role
