Fulham winger Harry Wilson could be out of action until the middle of April after being told he needs surgery on a fractured foot.
The Wales international suffered the injury in the 1-0 home defeat by Manchester United on Sunday and was replaced early in the second half.
Fulham manager Marco Silva said the 27-year-old could be out for 10 weeks, which would rule him out of the start of Wales’ World Cup qualifying campaign in March.
“It’s not good news for Harry Wilson,” Silva said. “He needs surgery, he’s going to be out for a long period, maybe 10 weeks.”
Defender Kenny Tete is also expected to be out for an extended period.
Silva added that winger Reiss Nelson “is getting better” as he recovers from the injured hamstring that has kept him out of action since early December, but he will not be in contention for Saturday’s game at Newcastle.
Silva suggested that the Cottagers could make signings before the transfer deadline to cover for the short-term loss of Wilson and Tete.
Defeat at the qualifying stages of the Champions League in August had limited Clement's summer transfer budget amid a worsening financial picture off the pitch.
